Why no more free seating airlines in Europe?

Like irishguy28 says in the post above, the (re)introduction of allocated seating on LCCs was in response to customer feedback - basically people wanted it. The fact that the airlines could then sell 'premium' seats must surely have helped though!
Both easyJet and then later Ryanair ran tests to see whether allocated seating increased boarding times, and apparently they both found the overall impact was minimal.

Since LCCs (and others) charge for checked bags now, people rush onto the planes anyway to find space for their carry-ons. No need to create that rush through non-assigned seats. Plus, boarding on FR was a very uncivilized experience that I personally wouldn't have gone through with kids. Now, they force families to buy seat reservations.
