We were very pleasantly surprised to see The Chocolate Block making an appearance in the CW cabin on our flights either side of Christmas. It seems that we weren't the only people who remarked on it; the cabin crew reported a lot of comments and interest, and the crew on the way back had gone to a shop and bought some to take home and try it for themselves.

I always thought that it was made in relatively small quantities, and had a following that made it something akin to a cult wine, and I never thought that I'd see it on board an aircraft.

Having said that, though, I think it tastes better at sea level.

[*]Zacapa XO (only in T5)

Very sadly, I haven't seen the Zacapa in GF for many months.

As for GF Champagne, the new norm of Taittinger is the Brut millesime and no longer the Prelude usually. LGPS truly is the exception and not the norm so I would really note it as such. I might have seen it twice in 2015 while the vintage Taittinger and rose and the Castelnau are all there almost every time.

Chanson Père & Fils Beaune Premier Cru Bastion 2009 in LHR CCR right now. ^

Also the Whiskey promo of the month is Glenfiddich Age of Discover, aged 19 years. This is a really, really good drop.

Last year, Ch Oiliver appeared in the GF lounge occasionally.

I was surprised and delighted to find it in the EDI Galleries lounge this evening. A distic=nct step up from the usual fare.

We have a real treat in T5 GF today...
Domaine d'Ardhuy Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (2009)

With me around, it won't last long... I'll keep an eye to see if they are restocking (currently present at both bars - the bottle at the Gold Bar is slightly warmer as it's not on ice: better in my view).

I had some wonderful surprises at the GLA lounge in 2015. And now that I am very good friends with the BaxterStorey catering manager there, she always greets me with something "nice from the back".

It's always appreciated when a nice CDP, Chablis or Grand Cru comes out the kitchen doors.

Yesterday, T5 GF had the rather lovely Felton Road Bannockburn. Arguably NZ's best producer of Pinot. Sadly, I was there at 6.00 am so didn't partake.
