BA should ban the transportation of trophies.

In common with all of the major US & Canadian airlines it's time that BA banned the transportation of animal trophies & skins.

Support Cecil!!!

BA has forbidden it for at least the last five years far ahead of most major airlines.

Yes indeed, as did South African Airways, Emirates and Lufthansa prior to the recent news stories. This is a rather reactionary and uninformed post.

A cynic would say that the American airlines are leveraging the 'good publicity'. Back in May of this year Delta released a statement saying that they'd still transport these animals as long as they were legal.

BA has always complied with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species treaty and has never transported any 'trophy kills' of this nature.

The very suggestion that they should have to align with 'Major US carriers' is laughable, considering the American track record for environmentalism and conservation.

I have a feeling someone is going to end up looking a plonker here.

OP should familiarise him/herself with topics that really belong to OMNI and not to airline fora.

Two different papers one more respectable than the other same result.

Such a ban was initiated by South African Airways in April, and Emirates, Lufthansa and British Airways later joined. These airlines pledged not to carry big game trophies, including elephants, rhinos, lions and tigers as cargo.

There is very little danger of BA carrying the (football) World Cup trophy anytime soon...

I'm glad to be corrected as to my ignorance. However, I do consider some of the arrogant & rude comments to be rather over the top.

"Plonker", over & out!!

It's amusing that could have been a genuinely controversial thread has already been culled, when far more trivial topics can run for hundreds of replies .

How about BA should ban the transportation of trophy spouses ?

Well let's just be pleased that BA is complying with what you wished for ^.

It does have a Tooting Popular Front feel to it .

So with all these Trotskyite hippy airlines around now, how is one supposed to return one's trophies from the colonies?
