Changing BA year end
Hi there, first post so be gentle!
I need to change my year end if possible and bring it forward by a couple of months. The only posts I can find are from a couple of years ago.
Is it as simple as closing and re-opening accounts. I have a fair few miles, so obviously don't want to lose them in the process.

Why do you want to change your year end?
BA won't change it. You could transfer your avios to Avios.com or Iberia then close and re-open, however you would lose any current and lifetime TP's.

Welcome to the BA forum.
All posting that I have seen on this forum appear to indicate that BA has never allowed a change to a membership year. That has not changed.
If all you are interested in is preserving your Avios with no interest in current year Tier Points or Lifetime Tier Points then nux offers a good suggestion. You can transfer the Avios back into a new BAEC account from Avios.com or Iberia once this has been set up.

I will be taking a big trip just before my year end, so if I could bring the year end forward, I would get the benefit of getting to silver, or possibly gold, for longer.
Also, iirc, if I did get to gold within the year, I'd get a further year at silver (not sure I am right about that last bit).
I currently have very few TPs to lose.

Once you attain Gold, and you do not fly much the following year, you get a soft landing to Silver. If you still do not fly much the year after that, you get a soft landing to Bronze.

Greetings sofib
Greetings sofib, we are mostly gentle here! Welcome to Flyertalk and the BA Board, please continue to post, and it's great to see you here.
The only wriggle room is 2 weeks on your current year end to add in an extra flight or two to get or retain a status level. Otherwise you should try to sort out peace in the Middle East, it will be easier than getting BA to change your membership date. You could in theory close your account and reopen it, thereby losing tier points and causing difficulties with retaining your Avios, but it's not wise to do this, you'll typically hit similar problems in a year or two in the other direction.

Don't you have to have had an avios.com account for 90 days before you can transfer miles to/from it?
