The lounge itself looks very good.

New lounge is an absolute disaster in terms of capacity problems. Utterly unusable. The first class section should help when it opens, although there are lots of OWEs flying out of LAX and the F section of the old lounge was always quite busy too.
Pro tip: Priority Pass, KAL Lounge, next door.

The problem is not just the lack of a separate First lounge. In my view the whole concept of the new lounge is crazy. The designers have referred to making the lounge feel like the buzzy lobby of a boutique hotel. Well, that certainly isn't my idea of a premium lounge - the basic need is to provide a peaceful and spacious area to relax before boarding one's flight, but somehow that appears to have passed the designers by. Even once the separate First section opens the new lounge will still be a jarring and enervating place. As others have noted, the public areas of the reborn Bradley terminal are now superb, particularly the mezzanine areas. In comparison, the new OneWorld lounge is claustrophobic and dingy. An opportunity missed.

Back in UK after good flight back from LAX.
The BA Special Services team in LAX were most apologetic about the lounge and agreed that it was bedlam. They had a reserved seating area for us and as soon as the plane was ready for boarding they escorted us directly to our seats. They indicated the new First Lounge should be ready in December/January but I would say that the Business Lounge would still have capacity issues even with the new First lounge open as there are three Aus flights 2x 380 plus one 747 that depart around the same time.
I did consider the KAL lounge as I have Priority Pass but just as we were heading out of the lounge our names were called by BA Special Services.

Holy thread revival batman - there is now the new OW First lounge at TBIT which has relieved the capacity problems on the OW Business lounge. I have used the OW First Lounge a couple of times and it is very good - not used the OW Business lounge since this thread so cannot comment on current situation.
