PDX-LHR downgauge

I知 curious about the downgauge from the 777 to 788. It extends through summer. The Portland flights were packed last year. I知 wondering if the horrifically late operations last summer have impacted future bookings from/to PDX. I知 considering Icelandair this year.

The passenger load factor remains high on BA’s PDX-LHR route. I have tickets in May and June where the Club World cabins are almost full. This route moved from 5 days a week to daily on April 1, not June 1. Some flights in August and September have new 787-10s, which have the suites and a capacity similar to the older 777s. Most flights have been departing on time in 2024, although 3 or 4 were pretty late and 2 were cancelled. While I prefer the privacy in the 777 and 787-10 suites, I also like the old beds in the 788 because of my height and big feet. I like the fuel efficiency of a 787 and the lower internal cabin pressure. The 757s that Icelandair fly out of PDX are not my favorite rides. I have not heard why BA used 777’s last June and July, but plans to use 788s this June and July.

From my examination it seems that they are using 787-10's on LHR-PDX this summer.

...so not a downguage?

Additionally: there are more 78Xs online than last year, and a few 777s still have to go off for refit [though I'm not sure where the 772s lie in that list, I think the 77Ws are first up].

LHR-PDX will be operated by a 787-8 until the 30th of June. Then the plan is for the route to be operated by a 78X from 1st of July to the 8th of October, when I see a 787-9 making an appearance until the end of the IATA summer season.

The caveat is that more 787-10s are needed. There's approx. 200 monthly return flights scheduled on the 78X in May, going up to 250 in June and 280-290 in July/August. If Boeing is late - which they are - or the quality isn't up to scratch - which it is - then I think we can expect changes here and there around the patch.
