Elite Qualifying Miles
The primary cardmember may earn 5,000 Elite Qualifying Miles ("EQMs") after spending $20,000 in Net Purchases that post to the AAdvantage® Aviator™ Silver account from January 1st through December 31st each calendar year. The primary cardmember may earn an additional 5,000 AAdvantage® EQMs each calendar year when the cardmember reaches $40,000 in spending on Net Purchases with the AAdvantage Aviator Silver account during the same period. International business/first you are probably right. International economy/plus not so sure. You could fly to Europe for $1k, but good luck booking a flight for 50k miles. And again, choice of airline is a big plus (especially if it allows you to fly a European rather than a US airline). Even for business, when you book an international flight using miles, you still have to pay a ton out of pocket. I looked into flying to Paris business using miles and found that I would still have to pay about $1k out of pocket.

In response to the person complaining about Quicken downloads for the Aviator cards: I use Quicken and this is a constant source of frustration for me, especially since I'm using this card almost exclusively until I get my EQM and EQD bonuses. The issue apparently is with Barclay's servers, not with Quicken. I have found that the only reliable way to do transaction downloads (for now) is to login to the Barclays Cards site and manually download the transactions, which I now do once or twice a week. I hope they will eventually get this working again, as it did work earlier in the year.

Red to Silver Not Approved
Had a US Airways Premier Rewards card that was transferred to an Aviator Red card. I've had it since the change was made almost 2 years ago, and just called Barclay to upgrade to Silver. They denied me because I didn't have an "offer". They couldn't explain to me who determines how or who determines which cardholders get the offer. The funny thing is, I have a Citi AAdvantage World Elite card, which is Citi's top tier AAdvantage card, but I can't get Barclay's?
I took it up to the supervisor level and was still denied, should I try calling back and talking to someone else?

Very surprised as I thought the main requirement was to have the account open >90 days, which clearly you have. Maybe try calling again.

EQD and EQM posting times
Data point on the Silver card:
I hit $20K in spend about 4 weeks ago and $25K in spend about 2 weeks ago.
The $3K EQD and 5K EQM both posted two days ago.

Another data point, Aviator Silver. Hit the EQD spend on 5/31, it appeared in my AA account today 6/11, but was backdated to 6/8. Pretty speedy! ^

Can you get the Red Aviator bonus if you previously had US Airways Barclayscard?
So I had a US Airways Barclayscard (sometime in 2015 right before the merging of accounts) that converted into the Red Aviator AAdvantage. I recently did a downgrade to the Blue Aviator (or Silver). Whichever one has no AF (few months ago).
I see Barclays has 50K miles for American Airlines by signing up with Red Aviator. If I signup would I be able to get the 50K miles? Anyone have experience here?

Existing cardmembers, existing accounts, and previous cardmember with accounts closed in the past 24 months may not be eligible for this offer.

I had 2 US Dividend Miles MC accounts converted to Aviator Reds, both still open at the time I applied for the "new" Aviator Red. Was instantly approved and bonus posted. No experience with downgraded cards... kept the Reds around because they're still earning the 10k anniversary bonus. I see no need to close the Blue card if you're gonna try this.
