Devaluation discussions in the two different forums

Yes, I know that moderation discussion is supposed to be non-public, but this is certainly not a criticism (if that matters.)

I pretty much exclusively only view this AAdv forum on FT. I was aware of the parallel forum: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...solidated-733/
but just kind of ignored it.

However, with todays really earth-shattering (only in our "world," needless to say) changes, I wonder if some consideration can/might be given to making it so that these parallel discussions aren't taking place without regard for each-other, since it's the exact same set of topics and I think it's important that all members are participating together at this time.

examples:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...-just-now.html
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...mediately.html
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...ting-fees.html

Wow just wow. Four devaluations in one shot. Those consumer benefits are rolling in.

Exclamation

It's not OK to discuss specific moderator actions; the rules were written to prevent it, much like companies proscribed discussion of personnel actions. They were, afaik, not intended to treat moderation as a priesthood or behind the scenes manipulation; mods are here to serve the needs of our greater community. Transparency tends to keep the black helicopters grounded. (This is why we held open discussion on issues like intraforum snark.)

Discussion like this is more general and addresses what actions we can take to facilitate information coherence and easy access - particularly when the changes are coming in fast and furious. The idea is to make it easier for members to have a conversation and not deal with information fragmentation precisely at the moment we need good and reliable information.

We have seven moderators for these fora. I assure you that we are discussing this at this moment and will provide useful solution. As we work, have various commitments, live in different time zones, etc. and are volunteers, it will take some hours.

Please AMP or PM - or better yet, add your opinion and guidance for our consideration. Our members have added huge vale: knowledge, wiki maintenance, guidelines, unpublished and little known information, etc. so you can rest assured we will appreciate and value your input.

Thanks JDiver, much appreciated. Your reply did leave me a little confused though (my fault-- not yours!) -- is it OK for members to opine-- in this thread-- if they agree that the "Big AAdv changes, April 8, 2014 (a date that will live in infamy? " ) thread(s) should be at least limited to one of the 2 forums?

Thanks!

Thanks!
"By George, I think he's got it!" with apologies to famous playwright. And in spite of my overly long post.

We're likely going to bring the "Consolidated" threads here (Pre-Merger) until such time as USdbaAA has a singer, merged FFP and unitary policies. (I can't do much until I get to a computer - I'm doing this from my dumb smartphone at this moment.)

In the meantime those knowledgeable people such as yourself who wish to do some wiki editing (e.g. international gateway stop elimination from awards, etc.) can contribute meaningfully as we go on about housekeeping and moving, merging.

These are a ton of changes at one time, some will feel stressed, some will not prefer what they see as fragmentation, others will be happier to find a discussion of a single issue. Sorry, friends, not everyone will be thrilled, but preventing information fragmentation in a forum this large and busy is not very easy. We will do what we can.

And you may consider this thread a forum for providing us constructive feedback and ideas on how we can proceed and offer value. It's your forum; we're here to clean up the mess over on Aisle #4.

Cool, thanks. Feel free to change the thread title if it's going to serve some kind of role/purpose of that type, etc.

Just want to make sure all members (not to mention AA) see all the posts!

email from aa

I just received an email from aa, extoling the "greatness" of the new award mile system. From that email:
Redeem for less. Effective today for travel starting June 1, 2014, a one‑way AAnytime award now starts as low as 20,000 miles plus applicable taxes and carrier–imposed fees. Plus we've lowered the minimum number of miles needed for AAnytime awards to popular destinations like Hawaii, the Caribbean and Europe. Our lowest AAnytime mileage levels are available for more than 50% of the year. Don't forget we still offer MileSAAver awards that can be redeemed for as low as 12,500 miles each way, plus applicable taxes and carrier-imposed fees.

No blackout dates! Continue to use your miles for any seat on any American Airlines flight using an AAnytime Award. Award levels vary by date and a few select dates * throughout the year are now offered at higher mileage levels.

Does AA speak with a "forked tongue"?
