Unusual AA Pilot's Names - Captain Miracle?

Given my own name, consisting of three surnames, I tend to notice when others have what might be considered unusual names.

Yesterday, on AA#1350 Airbus MIA=>JFK 5:56pm-8:54pm, I thought I had heard it all until the FA announced that our flight was being commandered by Captain Miracle!

Apparently, like many of the PAXs, the FA was caught off guard by this rather unusual name and literally couldn't finish the annoucement and turned off the PA. I could still hear her as I was seated in 1J.

First, she began to laugh uncontrollably with some of the other FAs in the galley, saying that she had never flown with this pilot before and asked if they had. They said that they didn't think so because they would have definitely remembered his name.

Regaining her composure, the FA then continued the rest of the announcement.

Has anyone else flown with Captain Miracle?

Fortunately, we didn't need a miracle, but if we had....!

I flew AA30 JFK->LAX last Friday with Captain McCool. At least that's how he and the FA pronounced it.

Well, I had Captain Ward Cleaver last weekend. My seatmate and I both looked at each other and busted out laughing.

I would feel much better flying with Captain Miracle than Captain Morgan. That's the name of a DL pilot I had a few years back. I can recall just hoping he hadn't partaken in his namesake before flying. =)

The captain of two of my JFK-LHR flights was Don Johnson. And yes, he is MIA based!

Depends on which Captain Morgan. The late Len Morgan was a Braniff captain for many years, and a great writer about aviation for Flying magazine.

Now, that's a bit of trivia only a flyer would know about! ^ Welcome here, gregmchicago.

Great thread...our pilots from SFO-HNL last week were Dusty Roads and Rusty Wheel (I'm sure I've butchered the spelling, but that's what they sounded like.)

Our captain on a flight from OGG to DFW was introduced as Captain Tom Cruise. No it was not that Tom Cruise.
