Their response to me was that if I was to move other accounts to them they may be able to look at waiving it. I wasn't interested in doing this so cancelled it.

Their loss. Not mine.

Does anyone have airpoint world card from Westpac, curious to know if this is a metal card or plastic?

really prefer metal card, top layer on plastic always came off and look awful

While it appears to be better made, it's definitely plastic.

Yep it's plastic, and I've already had them replace it because the top layer was peeling off.

I've had my card replace 3 times from wear and use. Certainly not better made

Mine's still intact - I must not be using it enough

When I think about it I'm either using it for online stuff and taking it out of my purse for that or I'm using it for paywave, not a lot of insert or swiping going on to damage the card. Or maybe it's just a woman's touch that keeps it tidy

Despite being plastic there are lots of compliments of the look and feel of the card. Likely people are more used to seeing standard issue Platinum cards

This is weird Westpac market them as most prestigious card in NZ, yet still plastic

They should offer metal card as an option, I'm willing to pay extra for it

Amex centurion just look so much better, although not widely accepted in NZ

Agree - I'd argue the Amex Platinum Charge card is a better offering and more prestigious, problem with is the acceptance and I'm still tied to MC/VISA as a backup.

I am seriously considering dumping Westpac but waiting to see what happens with the interchange situation in NZ

I put about $75k through the ANZ card in the last year.

I really want to close it on principal but unfortunately the alternatives are equally unattractive at the moment.

Close it and move to Kiwbank - you probably will get more benefit out of that

With spend that high you'd be far better off being with Kiwibank anyway - even if you paid the yearly fee the extra earn would more than cancel it out.

Got onto ANZ through their online 'email' thing this time instead of talking to a real life 'Personal Banker'.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

However, we are happy to waive off 6 months of account fees for you of
$75.00 as a oneoff.
At least that gives me six months to find another programme!

~75 more status credits with Kiwibank - is that the main benefit over ANZ?

Really big sidetrack - but does anyone know if ANZ Qantas has ever offered signup bonuses in the last 1-2yrs. I want their ANZ visa but was hanging out for a sign up bonus but I don't think they're very forthcoming so I may as well just go ahead and apply?

Last I could find was Aug 2014 and Dec 2015?
