I thought YQ was dropped for all Altitude members on NA itineraries?

Which is correct? I'll need elite status for YQ to be dropped or I if I travel on a NA itinerary YQ will be dropped? If the later, I'll wait until March to book something.

As for transferring miles, I'd only get 12.6K, I don't need those miles so I'd rather not bother with the hassle of transferring.

I will study the *A flight map over the weekend and see which destinations *A can get me to in Asia and Europe that OW can't. I'm an avid traveller, and wouldn't mind purchasing some miles if I can visit a place/country I haven't been to.

......
Well, I'm always sure that I'm correct. But for greater certainty I checked post #1 of the Important updates Air Canada Altitude 2015 thread and found this verbage:
Fuel Surcharge on Flight Rewards & Flight Reward change fee waivers
For reservations made as of March 1, 2015, the fuel surcharges on ClassicFlight rewards for travel within Canada and between Canada and the U.S. will be waived for all Altitude members. This is applicable on flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Express and Air Canada rouge.

So to clarify, an Altitude member is someone with P25K status or higher.

So yes, you need status to have YQ waived for NA itineraries.

If you don't have P25k, you are only an Aeroplan member.

Thanks for clearing that up. So there is a tangible benefit for P25 now!

Yes, this and the ability to status match to WS, for those that are interested.

Use them for a hotel

Some of the Sheraton Four Points are 3K a night, that would give you 5 nights. Many, of course, are more. Points are also good for a Best Western and a good option for a small town getaway in summer. Since I left SE status, I find using the points for travel a total pain (so many restrictions) and tend to use them for hotels. It's worked very well and you can do it on line quite easily on the aeroplan site.
