*FAQ:
Q: On the 787-9 (789), which seats in J are missing windows?
A: Rows 5 and 8 on both port and starboard sides have only one window, instead of two on all other port/starboard J seats.

Q: On the 787-8 (788), which seats in J are missing windows?
A: Only row 5 port and starboard sides have zero windows.

Q: Does the middle J seats' middle divider come down?
A: No, on the 788 and 789 the middle divider does not come down and is fixed in place. In fact, all Dream Cabin (788, 789, 77L, 77W) middle dividers are fixed and do not come down.

Would be nice to replace the 777HD with the 787 to HKG

I agree! But the capacity isn't even close! Maybe (and it's one heck of a stretch) the 789 could? In the off season?

I would love any 787 on that route but the capacity just isn't even close on them.

It would require 2 788s to operate that capacity, and thus not have the economics to do so.

The 77HD was purchased for specific routes where there is a stronger demand on the low end, and this is one of them.

1A vs 4A which one to chose

Hi,

Getting to try out the 787 next week
I couldn't find any information on the best seat wiki.
How close is 1A to the galleys?

Thank you!

AC's site has a few photos. Massive file size though

This is row 1 http://www.aircanada.com/en/about/me...ments/AC_8.jpg

This is the AC page for the Dreamliner
http://www.aircanada.com/en/about/me...tos_fleet.html

I also have a photo from the cabin from my flight if you PM me.

So I guess it depends on why you are asking.

If you are worried about people lining up for the washroom, don't be, it's further into the galley, and there are only 20 in J, with 2 more washrooms between L2 and R2.

If you are asking because of light / distractions, then it depends on how well the FA pulls the curtain over. (I'm easily distracted by light out of the corner of my eye and for this reason I dislike 1A).

Also note, 1D is the only business seat with the space in front of it for a baby (sorry, can't remember the official name, don't have a child myself). So in the off chance someone in J has a baby with them, they will be right beside you.

5A/K have no window so I like to avoid them as well.

So if it was me I would take 2,3,4 A or K.

Looks like C-GHPX has been delivered. Interestingly enough, it has also flown to MCI.

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/CGHPX

Last one was reported to have engine cowl damage, and flown there for repairs. I'm starting to believe there is another reason as 2/2 is too much of a coincidence.

Anybody have other information/theories?

Thank you for the quick response I'll switch to 4A. The risk of an infant is enough of a reason for me...

All pre-service mods are being done by Aviation Technical Services in MCI.

Thanks.

So the planes aren't actually finished in Everrett/Charleston?

Any specifics as to what is done there? Installing interior finishes? IFE?

Just curious.

C-GHPY is back to Charleston after being painted.

Last AC 787 took 2 weeks from return to CHS to deliver flight, to hopefully this one will be at MCI by mid-November.

Really unfortunate that the middle divider does not retract. Since the pods have so much more individual privacy there is no good seat for a couple now.

Hi all. Just got lucky and booked a *A FF tix CDG-YYZ-DCA for 70k and $141. I am UA 1k so the ticket was $15k miles more than a biz ticket on United. I just really wanted to fly the 787.

Anyone have any experience on UA's 787 and how it compares to Air Canada's metal and service?

Thanks for any experiential advise.
