Newark (EWR) again the worst airport delays in US
Just in case everyone thinks I only have good things to say about "Jerzee", this year's airport rankings are out, and again EWR is the worst (in terms of delays). SFO was second and ORD was third.

No surprise here. Newark is awful. Anytime I have to fly out of there on a Friday afternoon/evening I dread it. If you can get a departing flight before 3:00 pm you should do OK; after that forget it. I'm surprised that ORD made the list. I have always had very good luck in getting through Chicago.

If I have a friday fright out of NightmareArk airport (I'm trying a funny here!) I try to get a flight before 2p or fuggataboutit!
Or I'll leave on a thursday.
Yes, I can go to JFK or LGA and also run into lesser delays butif something's ten minutes from your house I can deal with the Nightmare-ark airport.
And as an added "relaxant" I have a Sam Adams. Or two. Or three. (provided I'm NOT working.)
Or I just think happy thoughts and hope my plane will be the first cleared for takeoff!

I agree. I usually fly CO out of EWR and my flights are always delayed on Fridays. I guess everyone is trying to get home for the weekend. The worst is when you are delayed on the ground sitting in the plane; at least sitting in the Pres Club is tolerable.

To the Jerzee flyers....
I'll get my first experience at EWR in April. I'll be passing thru on a Sunday via CO. (Incoming flight arrives @ 10:46 am, Departing @ 12:50...2 hour layover, aren't I just beyond thrilled about that?!!
)
Anyways...how's EWR on Sunday's during the above timeframes?

The biggest problem at EWR is the moronic Port Authority Police. They lets people park
wherever they feel like it, 15 or 20 feet from the curb, double park, triple park. Well the underworked, overpaid lazy men and women in dark blue have a coffee break.
Several times, I've walked, or taken the monorail from Terminal B to Terminal C because traffic was at a standstill.

Traveltoomuch - if you don't need to park there, EWR is really not a bad airport.
Go to the president's club by gate C80 if you can - a nice one.
And stop by C103 and C105 before you purchase any newspapers or magazines, because they're usually laid-out there for the taking.....

TravelTooMUch... let's put it this way: there is Never a good time to be at EWR. The traffic, the passengers, the overcroweded CO terminal, a lack of good restaurants and other places.
You really can't do anything interesting or fun with a 2 hr layover in EWR. I would suggest if you are an airline club member then go there with a good book and have a drink and wait.
Boomer: EWR's not the only place where P-A cops are impossible. They can't be found at the Path stations except by the fast food places.
But I've found them appear out of nowhere when my car service comes to pick me up. There are six big guys chasing him away or asking me why I'm "hanging out" in front of the terminal.
As I said... it's NIGHT-MARE-ARK AIRPORT!

David:
Bingo about the free magazines, it's great for those long trips. And they have some great, and pricey stuff also. Like the economist, foreign affairs, national geographic. Lots of good magazines and free.
BTW: do you know if CO pays for these or do the magazines provide them on a promotional basis?

ALL of the publications there have a "compliments of Continental Airlines" sticker on them, s I assume that means they are paid for, but a special rate wouldn't suprise me.
It's probably some combination.
I always stop there before I take off and after I land.
