Status miles go to who?

If a flight is booked and its a fare that can earn aeroplan status miles, who can get the miles off it? Say two people book a flight that gives 5000AP miles, can they both get the miles or is it only available to 1 person? Also, if a family member books a flight for themselves (the AP card holder is not included) can the other family member get AP miles?

It is really simple. The person who's name is on the ticket, ie. the traveller, gets the miles, status or otherwise - no one else is eligible to get them.

But they each have to have their own account . . . otherwise nobody gets them.

You mean if 3 people are travelling and only 1 has an aeroplan account the person cant get miles? What about if all 3 have accounts, who gets the miles?

You can't combine miles accrued into one only account. Each person must deposit the miles into their own account.

What is so difficult about this?

The name on the ticket determines where the miles go. No one else can accrue these miles. If three travellers each have account, each one will get the miles he travelled.

If an entire 343 is full of people who do not have Aeroplan accounts, I cannot get their miles just because I do.

I know but if it is like this.

My family for example

Person 1- No AP account
Person 2- No AP account
Person 3- Has AP account

3 names are on a booking for 3 people. If only 1 person on the PNR has a AP account can they get miles or does everyone have to have an account in order for 1 person to get the miles?

Mr. X and Mrs. X are flying and only Mr. X has an AP account. Mr. X can get miles for his ticket only. PERIOD. END OF STORY. DONE.

Why not sign Person 1 and Person 2 up for AP accounts and then everyone will collect their miles?

NONONONONONONONONONONONONONO

No person in the universe can get anyone else's AC miles. Finshed. It does not matter whether any other person has an Aeroplan account or not, or who paid for the ticket, or if they rub their special decoder ring.
