NAV Canada fees on the way up?
Read this article today. Thought it was interesting to note how much NAV Canada lost due to downturn in travel following 9/11. BTW, I especially liked the quote from the AC rep.

Air Canada spokeswoman Laura Cooke said the airline realizes that Nav Canada has enhanced its services, however "we remain concerned about the increasing costs being borne by our customers."
BTW, while concerned, expect AC to put back on the International fuel surcharge soon as the price of crude creeps higher with all the Iraq vs George W. war tensions mounts.

Somewhere else it was mentioned that AC was flying the same amount as last year. This needs to be qualified that they are flying the same number of ASM's.
They put more seats into fewer aircraft and reduced the number of aircraft and the number of flying hours/departures. This directly impacts Nav Canada.

Well then I will say that is a logical move by Air Canada. They pass on these NAV Canada fees on a per passenger basis and only pay them on a per aircraft basis? Just doing things more efficiently, it seems.
