This subject is being covered in the KLM forum, in the Air France forum, and the In the News forum (possibly even elsewhere).

In general, topics dealing with a particular airline should be discussed in that airline's forum.
When an issue is of great general interest to folks who don't regularly fly the airlines in question, there are times that bringing the issue up to MilesBuzz makes sense. A classic example of this would be Goldpoints/Valumags and Goldpoints/Hallmark opportunities from a couple years ago (where folks were more or less purchasing unlimited quantities of miles for about a penny apiece). Another example of this is when Pudding Guy nicely laid out the possibilities for getting the most out of the British Airways/Jaguar test drive promotion. I've even pulled together free miles opportunities (even meager ones) from other boards and posted them here.
The key, I think, when doing something like that is to try to offer a clear and concise title and a clear explanation of the value of the information to Flyertalkers who don't often deal with the particular airline, hotel, or loyalty program.
In this case, given the large volume of discussion of the KLM-Air France hookup here on Flyertalk, I'm going to close this thread.
If someone wanted to discuss the larger question or meta issue of what European airline consolidation means for the future of mileage accrual and award travel on other carriers (if there is such a relevant hypothesis out there) I would think that subject would be perfect fodder for the MilesBuzz forum...
