Royal Brunei - any airline partners?

Considering a C class flight with Royal Brunei, but couldn't find any information on where I could put the miles (it would be quite a lot LON-AKL!). Are they a bizarre airline with no FF partners?

Also, be grateful for any comments on this airline and its product.

Thanks.

It's been several years but my experience on Royal Brunei was a 767 in J class. The seat, food and service were among the best I'd ever experienced. I wouldn't hesitate to pick them even if you don't get the miles...

With their fares on routes to asia and australia in C and F class it wouldn't surprise me if they don't give FF miles at all...

Very interesting question, jenbel. If there is a chance to earn miles for such flights on major carriers this airline would be a possible choice for me too...

Any further comments on their service and cabins?

Royal Brunei does have its own "Royal Skies" FFP, but they don't seem to have any airline partners:

http://www.bruneiair.com/RoyalSkies/index.asp

And while they have Hyatt and Meritus as partners, based on their website it's only possible to earn, not use, miles at the hotels.

"Royal Skies" FFP is new. Royal Brunei introduced it a few months ago.

AFAIK, Royal Brunei has no partners where you could earn miles.

I believe it's a "dry" airline.

A DRY airline Jenny. We can't let you go on an airline like that.

Hope you enjoyed the London Meet and i am sure we can organise a Scottish one a some point.

A few friends and my parents-in-law have flown BI, and were very happy with the $$/service equation. Clean (if dated) interiors, seat pitch and comfort in J comparable to BA's WT+.

And the crew had no issues with you taking on board your own (moderate amount of) alcohol. Apparently BI stock a good supply of mixers.

The main issue is using 763s, a mid-haul aircraft, on long-haul routes. So BNE-LHR is 2 or 3 stops, not 1 with the mainline carriers. You are pretty frazzled by the end of the journey.

oooh, hadn't noticed the dry bit. Suddenly, paying 500 more for MH when I can send the miles to KLM, doesn't seem such a bad idea after all.

Thanks all for your comments. I'd spotted LHR-AKL for 1800ish as this is a new route for Royal Brunei (the actual route is LHR-DBX-BNE-AKL - maximising shopping opportunities ).

And be on the lookout for the video prayer to Allah for a good flight, and the head-dress-clad stewardesses. Tastefully, though. And no, I'm not kidding.

Unfortunately just me, none of my family and friends understand why I would want to "waste" money in C when you get there just the same in Y!

But thanks for the heads-up, I will keep looking - these are quite long term plans, but if I found a good price tomorrow, I'd be there!

Royal Brunei is about to install flat beds in business class. The flight from FRA will change to the flat bed in January 2004. I don't know about the schedule of the seat transformation for other routes.
(BTW, Malaysian also plans to introduce a flat bed in 2004. I don't know when they start the transformation.)

Royal Brunei Airlines participates only in its FFP Royal Skies.
