Any Info. on Tennis Racquets as a Carryon??

Hello FTers,

I was wondering if anyone who has flown in the last two weeks have seen what various airport security folks have to say about a single tennis racquet in a padded case as a carryon. Both airline (US and DL) customer service staffs say that a single racquest is OK with them.

I have 3-4 transcontential trips coming up in the next five weeks. I have not flown since 9/11 (due to limiting leisure travel due to my football officiating schedule and the sporadic nature of my business travel). I am hesitant to check a $250 racquet.

Thanks for any information,

On Oct 17 we flew SAT-ATL-MCO on DL. My son's sole carry on was his tennis bag which included 2 raquets. No questions asked, no special examination given.

Just pack it in a carry on bag or your luggage. You arent going to be playing on the plane. I travel with 2-3 racquets often, and I just pack them.

No nail clippers attached I hope.

In a serious security driven world, they MIGHT be looked at as a weapon, but these days only nail clippers, razers, etc are dangerous, which is why the guy got through in chicago with a stun gun.
