According to AP and several other sources, this segment is anything but favorable about priceline, it's a show on consumer dissatisfaction. It's about the complaints and their BBB membership in Connecticut being revoked (remember, according to AP, not me).

Thanks for the kind birthday wishes everyone - but let's not take away from what Mileage Addict calls the "godess" of Priceline bidding!
It's Sheryl that really has done something!
BTW- They are really advertising this show like crazy and emphasizing the negative as already mentioned above by cordelli. The Wall Street Journal reported today that alleged consumer dissatisfaction with Priceline will be the focus on the "48 Hours" segment.
CBS News confirmed this report & said the program alleges more than 300 people filed complaints vs Priceline since 4/98.
Also CBS would also reveal that William Shatner, Priceline's celebrity spokesman, does NOT ever actually use the company's services 'cause he always flies in FC.
Personally I'd drop Shatner as the spokesperson, since the ubiquitous ads drive me bananas!
AND: Also Priceline, in a premptive move (?), has announce a sale!
Don't miss it! Our airline partners have promised us their best fares of the year --you can save up to 40% or more off the lowest published airfares -- just Name Your Own Price.sm No reasonable offer will be refused!
Priceline.com is a great way to save on round trip airline tickets to anywhere in the U.S., Europe, or wherever you want to go! And you'll always fly on a brand-name airline -- the names you know and trust. If your price is accepted, we'll immediately purchase your tickets. More details.
Hurry -- Don't miss out on the lowest fares of the year -- Name Your Own Pricesm before midnight PST, September 30th, 2000 for travel anytime before December 13, 2000.
Hurry, this special fare sale ends soon. "No reasonable offer refused."

UPDATE:
Shares of Priceline.com Inc. (PCLN.O) fell more than 10 percent to near-record lows on Thursday on investor nervousness over an upcoming CBS TV report that will focus on alleged consumer dissatisfaction with the e-commerce firm, analysts said. Shares of Priceline were down $2-7/16, or 10.4 percent, to $21 in midday trade on the Nasdaq stock market. Priceline has not traded that low since its stock market debut at $16 on March 30, 1999.

Is this whole hour on CBS going to be dedicated to Priceline or is Priceline just part of a larger story?
Just curious. I'll probably watch to see Sheryl and put a face to the person who's helped me in many failed Priceline bids
To clarify I don't blame Sheryl for the bids failing -- her site and herself is very helpful.

There is a lot of information about the show, as well as a video in which I appear, located at http://cbsnews.cbs.com/now/story/0,1...6-412,00.shtml

Just saw the show and what I saw was no news. All CBS did was to highlight the restrictive nature of the tickets bought through priceline. Though I would not buy an air ticket from priceline because as stated in the report I too don't have the flexiblty to use air tickets from priceline, however; I have used priceline for a hotel and had a wonderful experience.
There was not one case of out right fraud. Yes some of these people were inconvenienced, but isn't that the nature of these cheap tickets.

Someday we'll reach an understanding - meet me halfway that's where I'm going to be.

Since the time I first became interested in Priceline during the summer of 1999, on the one occasion that I was not limited to a particular hotel due to an event, I used Priceline for a hotel stay. I bid a 4* in San Francisco and was pleased with the Renaissance Parc 55 I got for $80/night (lowest available rate for my dates was $199).
For the record, I repeatedly tried to bring Priceline's (and Expedia's Hotel Price Matcher, for that matter) hotel bidding into the interview. The discussion always reverted to airline tickets as that was their agenda.

Any free FF miles, courtesy of CBS, involved?
The stock was very week again at the open - but so were most others!
If still want to use it, you can use:
Name your own price, and now save $25 per ticket! Smarter Living members will now have $25 per ticket added to the price they name for up to eight airline tickets at
priceline.com!
As a Smarter Living member, you pay only the price you originally offered, with priceline.com's "bonus bucks" increasing your chances of getting the flight you want
at the rate you want to pay.

But, be sure to check Sheryl's board out first!
