No International Flights to US until Monday

I'm still in Toronto. Was supposed to go home to Denver last Friday but exteneded due to problems at the client site.

I've rescheduled from Wednesday to Thursday to Friday, and last night was told by UA that NO international flights will operate until Monday.

Hertz quoted a rate of nearly US$2,000 for a one-way rental. Yesterday there were 24-hour delays for people trying to drive across the Canada/US border, early this morning they were down to 1 hour for passenger cars. But commercial trucks have an interminable wait.

H*ll, watching the search for survivors in NYC I knmow I have very little to complain about. But I want to get home to my 9yo and 6yo daughters, and my wife!

Is UA the only one not operating flights between the US and Canada?

Is there a way you can catch a bus and/or train to somewhere in the States and fly from there? (Like down to Buffalo)

Just thought to tell you that a friend of mine has just departed on a flight from NRT-ORD on ANA. As far as I know, his flight is not delayed.

So I guess this no-int'l-flight-till-Monday probably isn't true. If anything, I'd expect UA to be flying earlier than ANA into the US since UA is an American carrier.

LH plans to realize 21 of its 25 US flights today. LH 408 DUS-EWR is already in the air. Delays at FRA and MUC. Most of UA flights have arrived in Germany. UA 900 UA SFO-FRA and UA 962 IAD-MUC have been cancelled.

This friday evening, situation in DTW:

No flight on LF (DTW-FRA) on both directions

No flight on United,

Northwest had all its flights inbound and outbound working, and it seem staht nearly all very half empty or more (less than 20% on my DTW-CDG)

Informations that Air France has resumed operations (1 flight CDG-ATL yesterday), and LF on other destinations than DTW

Seems there are FBI agents in the planes, which is good.

A few international flights did arrive yesterday. My boss flew CDG-IAD on UA and my sister in law came on her original schedule on JNB-LHR-ORD-DEN only 4 hours late.

However have a friend stuck waiting for a flight on UA from LHR. Told most likely be 6 days.

My parents just phoned from Heathrow. Confirmed on a 6pm AA LHR-JFK tonight.

Of course that's still a few hours from now...AA said it's going. Anybody know any differently?

I dont know about from LHR to the states but my friends got on a UA flight from SFO to LRH yesterday at 12:20. The plane left about 2 hours late but it did leave and it was packed.

I took a look at a few of UA Asian inbound flights, and see that many are in-flight/have arrived. E.g.: UA 876 (NRT-SEA in flight); UA806 and 896 arrived in SFO and ORD respectively. Note that the domestic continuations seem to be cancelled.

As of now, UA801 (JFK-HKG) is in-flight after a 98 minute delay, and UA895 ORD-HKG is still scheduled to leave within the hour.

I can only commend everyone at UA for doing such a wonderful job of moving forward in these extremely trying times.

It seems most (or all?) of the YVR to US flights are cancelled. AC didn't fly to US yesterday and I couldn't have gotten to LAX this morning as scheduled.

AA 107 is indeed airborne LHR-JFK, albeit about an hour late. AA website lists numerous int'l flights to the US above and beyond those mentioned already.

I'm re-booked on AC 529 Sunday! They flew today too. I've actually got a good feeling about getting home tomorrow...4 days late.

Bye Toronto, hello Denver!

RAD

P.S. I had to wait for 30 minutes on hold with AC - not too bad.

{edited to add the P.S.)
