Room Cancellation - WestJet World Elite MC

I am looking at booking a non refundable room for a vacation later this year (its much cheaper than the refundable rate).

I was wondering if the trip interruption would cover this if I needed to change anything?

Anyone have any experience doing this?

Thanks

You haven't provided enough information to get a meaningful answer. It would completely depend on the cause of the trip interruption. Generally speaking, the coverage is for things that are out of your control, not for things that you can plan for.

Thanks - well if something like a death in the family or something like that happens - would that be covered- can I use trip
interruption even if I haven’t left on my trip yet?

Thanks

An event before you leave is trip cancellation not interruption when it comes to insurance.

Per the insurance description "covered reason occurs during your trip.".

It includes some coverage for death, but there are limits on who is covered and coverage only seems to apply during the trip (I don't see any coverage for trip cancellation if the trip hasn't started yet). You can read the Certificate of Insurance policy wording here. The part about trip interruption coverage starts on page 22.
