Check in issues with QR code

Anybody else having issues checking in for a domestic flight today? I upload my vaccination record (Alberta-Canada) but it doesn’t allow me to proceed. Used the app and on their website unsuccessfully.

How can one upload the certificate? If I try to check in with laptop then it asks me to scan the document which is challenging, and on the phone with built in scanner you need to take a picture of code which is tedious. Upload be a better solution.

If you don't already have a copy of the QR code, just screenshot it and upload as a photo. If you are on an Apple device you can just screenshot the QR Code directly out of your wallet (assuming you have loaded the 'WhichEverProvince-Canada' QR code into your wallet) then use the image from the screenshot from 'Photos' to upload.

I just had this issue checking in. I kept uploading different .png and .jpeg files of my qr code, some the entire document, some just the QR code (I used the snipping tool), and it kept giving me an error. Finally I tried using the camera on my computer to scan a printout, that also did nothing at first, but after a couple of minutes waving the QR code around, it managed to scan it and allowed me to proceed. I'm assuming worst case you'd need to show your proof at the airport.

I (AB QR code) also found myself unable to check in by uploading my qr code. Two weeks ago my laptop had the option to scan it, but that wasn't there this time (I checked Chrome, FF and Edge). It was, however, possible to use my phone's web browser (Chrome) to scan the QR code, which for some reason wasn't an option in the app.

Solved

You have to make sure the file size of your picture/scan is not too large. I haven’t figured out the max yet but I shrunk it from 262kb to 30kb and it worked fine.
you would think they would post the max size in their instructions.
just take a screenshot with your phone then reduce the file size

In the last 4 weeks I did 2 return trips to Cancun and simply uploaded a screen shot of my Alberta/Canada vaccine passport. No issues at all. A friend of mine who was with me tried the exact same process but it would not upload. She tried 200 times according to her (I think it was actually 20 LOL). So she re-started her phone and tried again and had no problem at all. Very strange indeed.

My husband is American and has a CDC card, I'm guessing for domestic travel in Canada we will always have to proceed to an agent to check in now?

For certain US states SHC (Smart Health Card) format vaccination QR Codes are available from the state government (such as California) or a 3rd party (such as MyIRMobile: https://myirmobile.com/). The Canadian provincial QR codes are all now to the Federal standard in SHC format, so there is a high likelihood that the WestJet upload and extraction of the name and vaccination status from an SHC QR code will work for non-Canadian codes too (possibly including EU ones that are also to the SHC standard).

That would be so helpful! I also can’t seem to get any of my information to stick in my member profile (westjet rewards number, passport information, etc). What’s the trick to getting that to stick?

Register your shots with your local health unit. You'll get the QR code eventually that way. (Toronto public health took 5 weeks to process my CDC card into CovaxON).
