My guess would be yes as long as you are not schlepping a ton of other carry on, but you are completely at the the check in agent, the gate agent (who may be the same person) and the least accommodating of the FAs.

Be aware that wood products may be problematic at customs when returning to Canada. There are fairly complex rules here: https://inspection.gc.ca/plant-healt.../1488215831755 and some interpretation of the rules here: https://www.pcb.ca/post/requirements...to-canada-8556.

One exemption is: "dried decorative wooden items that are bark-free, accompanying personal effects, and for personal use and not intended for resale;" and this definition for dried:
"dried - materials having a moisture content of less than 20 percent;"
