- “It’s not clear that we have found the bottom yet of the current downturn at this point,” WestJet CEO Gregg Saretsky told analysts during a conference call on Tuesday, after the company released fourth-quarter 2015 results that missed expectations.
- WestJet Airlines is taking a hit as the economy slows and the loonie weakens, experiencing a "deep, sudden" drop in bookings and profits.
- WestJet “didn’t start to experience much softness in our bookings and yields until late Q4 (fourth quarter),” he said. “And it was sudden, and it has gotten very deep.”
- The airline is looking at more ways to cut costs, and is considering deferring some new Boeing 737 aircraft deliveries.
Sure seems like their business is performing great
