Now that they are flying bigger planes they should open up Hawaii routes to companion fares

Interesting.
Looks like a YYZ based plane? Maybe YYZ based crews as well?
I would have thought YYC bases.

The hanger in YYZ is large enough to house these aircraft, whereas the one in YYC is not, so RON maintenance will be in YYZ, but the crews will be YYC based.

While doing the ETOPS proving flights and understanding operational issues, YYZ has a lot more hangar space than YYC that will fit the 767.

Would the hangar at YEG be able to accommodate the 767s?

WestJet takes delivery of first of 4 wide-body Boeing 767-300 aircraft

http://www.edmontonjournal.com/busin...906/story.html

CALGARY - WestJet (TSX:WJA) has taken delivery of the first of four Boeing 767-300 extended range aircraft it has ordered to begin flights to Europe and elsewhere starting next month.

The four aircraft will arrive separately over the next eight months. The first one which arrived today will fly between Toronto and Calgary over the next several months.

Two more 767s will fly from Alberta to Hawaii and between Toronto and Montego Bay, Jamaica beginning in December.

The fourth and final aircraft, which features 262 seats and a flying range of about 11 hours, will arrive next spring to launch WestJet's new service to London, England in May 2016.

According to BNN, the LGW route (or at least the first one) will be out of YYZ. If correct, it's unfortunate that they're piling onto the route.. AC, TS, BA, ZX, and now WS. My guess is one of those 5 is not coming out of that route in good shape.

WS has direct flights to YYZ from all major cities in Canada, so this makes sense.

How did BNN manage to get this information, but no other news agency picked up on it? That particular route hasn't even announced to Westjetters yet. The only known, as far as I know, is that LGW is the destination (origins yet to be announced).

Not exactly the best source of information. Scroll down and they say Air Canada Rouge flies from YYZ-LHR....

Business news channels - a source of speculation for speculators.

Any word on when the 767 will leave the hanger and have some passengers on board?

Although it is about 5m too wide to fit the Calgary hangar, it will leave the tarmac outside the hangar soon.

Westjet bought an aircraft that will not fit in its hanger? Or more likely WestJet build a hanger that can not fit its newest fleet member?

I am assuming they can lease hanger space from Air Canada or perhaps some of the old Canadian airlines handers in Vancouver if needed.

Hope they get those birds in the air soon......
