PHX / Scottsdale Commetns ?

Hi all,

I have done some research / searches on this subject, and just wanted your (expert ) comments on my plans. Just wanted to know if I am doing anything majorly wrong / stoopid ....

Flying into PHX on 30/5 and attending a conference in the Phonecian until 2/6. I am a Hilton guy, and want to take advantage of my triple base points promo, so have booked myself as follows:-

Hilton Scottsdale Resort 30/5-2/6 Not too far from the Phonecian & I will be able to walk everywhere in the evening ... Also might do some shopping - I believe that this Hilton is in the middle of a mall / shopping area ?

Transferring to the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs from 2/6 to 4/6(am) - Will plan to relax and also possibly hit a few golf balls (not too many I hope ) and/or talk a short desert hike ...

I will prob not take a car for the first few days, and may pick up one for the trip to Tapatio.

Your comments / suggestions are welcome ..

While I actually like the Scottsdale Resort....there isnt a whole lot within walking distance. There is a mediocre mexican restaurant across the street and a mediocre steak house as well and a small strip mall. You can walk to Houstons which is down the street on the same side as the hotel and it has a little better food. For a couple of nights it wouldnt be too bad but I would much prefer to go to some of the better places in Scottsdale which is not within walking distance. How do you plan on getting to the conference each day, do they have a shuttle? I would recommend a car for the whole trip as it would be cheaper than taxi's and the weekly rate would probably work out better in your favor anyway.

Thanks mcgahat,

I had either planned taxis, or to rent a car for the week - don't think that there are shuttles from that hotel ...

Can you suggest a better Hilton family hotel - either (1) better located to the Phonecian or (2) better located for shopping, food etc. ?

The Hilton does actually have a shuttle van that will take you within a certain distance around the hotel so you may be able to use that route but if you can swing a car I think you will be better off.

As far as location from your conference I think the Hilton is not very far at all but you may look at the Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Old Town. It is a bit closer the some shops and restaurants in the Old Town area and there is a shopping mall not too far away as well.

I think either of those locations would fit your needs quite well. I just think that that cost of a taxi to either of them might be as much as a rental car and since you planned on getting one anyway.....
