“out of the way” restaurants

Not the biggest fan of MSN.com, but they put an e-article up stating these restaurants were worth the drive. Any feedback?

Napa Rose at Grand Californian: Anaheim, Calif
Manka's Inverness Lodge and Restaurant: Inverness, Calif.
The Herbfarm Restaurant: Woodinville, Wash.
Nick's Italian Cafe: McMinnville, Ore

Craig6z, I've dined here twice when heading to Yosemite after flying into Fresno. Enjoyed it both times. VERY romantic for sure.

One of the times, I called ahead and got a private room off to the side when I took my parents and wife to Yosemite. Great service.

Herbfarm is supposedly exceptional.
Never been. Not in the budget lately.
Others may say more, but iirc, it's like 4 hour 9-course meal with wines, runs a few hundo per person and is 'exceptional'. They grow their own herbs obviously, and they have their own book.

It books out a while in advance too. I'd love to try but can't seem to justify the time and expense. But it is s'posed to be top-notch.

Wow, Sweet Willie. I just made a post today in TravelBuzz to someone who was looking for recommendations in Oregon's wine country, and I also suggested a few restaurants, Nick's being one of them. (Tina's in Dundee, not far from McMinnvile, is a tad better IMO.) Nick's (Italian) is very, very good, so don't get me wrong. I just like Tina's because it's French/Pacific Northwest.

I've also heard a lot of good things about The Herbfarm. If I'm not mistaken, they won a Beard award in the last two or three years for best restaraunt in the Pacific Northwest.
