Roy's at Pebble Beach Disappointing
Last summer when we were vacationing on Maui, we had two outstanding dinners at Roy's Nicolina in Kahana. Therefore, we decided to try out the Roy's closest to our home in Pebble Beach - actually at the Inn at Spanish Bay.
This will not be a detailed review but I will just say the meal was quite a disappointment. There wasn't anything really wrong - service was good, the view was excellent, nothing was overcooked or undercooked. It was just very ordinary, something I would expect at a decent neighborhood restaurant for about half the price or less.
Since there were five of us, we had an opportunity to sample a wide variety of dishes, including salads, soups, appetizers, and several entrees. Thus, I don't think we just ordered the "wrong" dishes.
I should also mention that the restaurant was incredibly noisy, almost to the point where it was difficult to have a conversation among our group. The tables are quite close together and there is absolutely no sound-absorbing material anywhere, on the floor, the walls, or the ceiling.
If we head down to the Carmel area, we still have as our number 1 choice the Pacific Edge restaurant at the Highlands Inn (now a Park Hyatt).
