On Maui the Kihei and Maalaea, some eats
In the Kihei area, we had very good plate lunches at Da Kitchen (lunch & dinner). Also in Kihei we had very good soft flour tacos (carnitas & chicken) at Senior Tacos.
For a more upscale/expensive dinner, we dined at The Waterfront which is in/on Maalaea Harbor. Strange set-up, it's in an condo building overlooking the harbor. My pop who used to buy/sell fish claimed it was the best fish he had while in all of HI, Mom was equally impressed. My crab cake appetizer was outstanding, while my main course was good. Wife's lamb was very tasty.

Da Kitcken was closed by the Maui Board of Health last year. The guy skipped before paying the huge fine. It reopened with the same name for some unknown reason.
I totally agree with the family run Maalea Waterfront Restaurant. I wrote a glowing report last year somewhere on FT.
Best Maui pricesand food is at Longhi's Wailea for lunch. A really really nice deal (40-80% higher for dinner and worth it then, too)
