Whose 747 is this? It’s been parked at PHX for like a week.

I've seen that plane plenty of times in LA at the Atlantic ramp (it's even on the current iteration of Google Maps). Possibly with AF2 consuming plenty of ramp space at LAX it was the cheapest & closest place they could park it.

I've flown BA's 747 PHX-LHR many times--including a few times in the nose! (R.I.P. 1A/K )

Avoid the football hype at home? Apparently it had done a JFK and LAX trip beforehand.

I highly doubt that the concept of price factors into any action by the Qatari Emir and family.

HP had daily service to Nagoya, along with PHX-HNL service. I can't remember all of the routes, but at least those were covered by B747 service.

As this question has to do with the PHX airport and not AA nor the AAdvantage program, we will move this to the appropriate destination forum. /JY1024, AAdvantage co-moderator

I miss the America West 747 PHX-HNL- Nagoya Japan route. The passenger name was inserted into your seat before boarding in First Class. They had Hawaii / Asian style uniforms and First class had a flight attendant assistant who was not allowed to talk when they carved your beef selection in front of you.

it has been said that this 747 plane and route was OKd by the Ameica West Board of Directors for the only one reason. They all received free flights for their families and it made no financial sense

In addition to NGO, they were also used for PHX-LAS, PHX-JFK as well as LAS-JFK and LAS-HNL. The four B742s were subleased from KL and were absolute lead sleds in the summer heat.
