excess baggage on partners for velocity gold and up

hi everyone.

I'm a velocity gold member as well as a *gold member. It's really important for me to maintain status because I run my own business and always travel with 2x23kg bags whenever I fly.
International excess baggage charges to Australia can be astronomical and even though I usually credit to *alliance when flying international, I was always convinced that Etihad and singapore airlines gave velocity gold and upwards members an extra bag/allowance.... but now I can't find this anymore on the corresponding pages on the velocity site? I just realised that united doesn't give an extra bag.... i know air canada doesn't. it seems so ...... a partnership if all you can get is a couple of miles/status miles and no lounge access or bag?? has anyone experienced excess baggage privileges being revoked on velocity partners? anyone know which partners DO give an extra bag??

I flew UA last week internationally, and I received an extra bag benefit (2 checked bags allowed total). I have no status with UA at this time. I didn't notice what it said about weight limit, but there's definitely still a benefit on UA.

Star Alliance Gold benefits are not necessarily VA Gold benefits. VA is not a member of *A

yeah i understand how star alliance works. I'm specifically asking about Virgin's benefits on partners.

that's great to know about the UA bag benefit. I just wish It would be stated anywhere online cause i can't see it anywhere meaning that i wouldnt have a leg to stand on at the airport if staff wouldnt know.
