Velocity has said that International redemptions won't return until international borders reopen. With flight changes and border issues an ongoing issue, the limited resources that velocity has are much better spent assisting with domestic Australian redemptions instead.

Before anyone complains about members who live in other countries it's worth noting that technically you are only eligible to be a velocity member if you are a resident of Australia, New Zealand, and a handful of Pacific islands (all of whom aren't really traveling right now).

if Australian border with NZ opens in next few weeks & rest in March that would be great, ie. Australians can leave without restrictions or quarantine.

Whilst I'd love for that to happen, New Zealand has clearly stated they want at least 28 days where the entire country to record no new cases in the community. NSW haven't yet got that memo and think it's "ok" to have a few cases each day which means the two-way travel bubble will be a while away unless New Zealand changes their requirements.

Virgin Australia flights between Australia and New Zealand will likely resume the start day of the two-way bubble and one should expect award redemptions on these services. Whilst all the airlines are selling flights from 28 March, this is all pure speculation and reward seats haven't been released on any of these flights.

Quite a few media organisations have spoken about it as the airline published a press release late last year.

Here is just one example:

That would be great. Unfortunately all evidence is against it happening. We are much further off.

I'm in Velocity Platinum currently in the USA until international travel to AU resumes... I'm definitely keen for points redemptions to come back ASAP. But it just isn't happening soon unfortunately.

Yes, anyone who has been following the situation KNOWS that the border isn't opening next week. The government has laid out guidelines and we can accurately predict the earliest time it could possible occur. It's guaranteed to be least 4 weeks, but most likely much longer, because the likelihood of 0 cases for 28 days is pretty slim. Every day with a case that counter resets.

No one can predict what's happening tomorrow. Predictions are a total waste of time, but media love negative predictions & it seems the public love something to worry about.

It won't be March 18 2021 thats for sure. I'd be surprised if the NZ bubble is up and running by March. I think we are looking more likely into 2022 before wider international borders are opening.
