Going....going....gone. Feel for the staff but despite all the armchair guru's ideas and arguments above the 5 billion dollars of debt was a moot point when in fact it was the main point.

It's understandable if people think VA failing is a necessary evil. I can be reasonable and recognize that perspective, even if I don't agree with it.
But your cheer-leading of 16,000 lost jobs is revolting.

Gone they are; no need to get all emotional mate. Let's see the next iteration of a second Australian airline..Ansett, Compass, Virgin....? I can hear Qantas saying "next..." Survival of the fittest. Management led staff on, spending money with no idea. Dick Smith summed it all up nicely.
