When is dinner?

I've done a search and couldn't find anything. There's nothing on the VA website either (that I could find anyway). I've used up some velocity points and booked SYD-MEL-SYD with the MEL-SYD leg in J. I'm on the 871 which leaves at 5.30. Is that a dinner or a snack service?

5:30pm is a snack flight. Expect a cheese plate. Virgin are fond of cheese plates for snack services on the SYD-MEL route.

Thanks both.

I'll grab something in the lounge.

Having just got back home after flying VA871 the 5.30 departure from MEL I am pleased to report that the afternoon tea service actually wasn't a cheese plate after all.

There was a choice of beef bourguignon pie or pumpkin salad. This was accompanied by a choice of roll and a black cherry cream cake for dessert. Very civilised.

That actually looks quite appetizing (for an airplane food, of course). Did it taste as good as it looked?

The pie was great, a little dry but not too bad. Very satisfied.
