MEL mct / minimum connection time for intl-intl VA
Is 5mins a good transfer time in MEL? I have an intl arrival and intl departure. I am being allowed to ticket it but my onward intl connection is only once a day so an overnight in MEL would not be an option.

What are the flights ?
Any checked bags ?
Checking in on line for 2nd flight or at 1st flight?
Delays do occur
Arrival time is when the aircraft stops (and before the door opens) and departure time is when the aircraft backs off from the chocks (and well after the door closes). Considering the time it take to get off the aircraft & time you need to be on next aircraft before takeoff, 30 minutes is not enough IMHO. In 5 minutes you would hardly be off the 1st aircraft

Any checked bags ? No.
Checking in on line for 2nd flight or at 1st flight? I should be given BP for onward connection.

Query moved to the proper airline forum; the destination fora are better for destination, including airport, questions - but this pertains to Virgin Australia, so it will go there for better exposure and more informed input.

Is it all booked under the one Ticket (PNR)? If so you are somewhat protected regardless of the actual amount of transfer time you have.
Did an int-int in BNE a couple of weeks ago, given that for the most part Australia is usually a destination rather than a stop over point, transfer security is usually pretty quiet and thus quick. That said it will take some time, and all the LAG rules will be in effect. So don't buy DF booze to take through Australia to a third country as you would need to surrender it in MEL.

I'd be surprised that the airline would even let you ticket both flights so close together (assuming the two are on the one ticket) given the MCT is typically at least 30 mins...
