Any news on upgrades on longhaul
I was wondering if VA will soon be offering point upgrades to business on longhaul flights.

Yes they've been available for the last couple of months now

Just note that you must have purchased a Flexi Fare to be able to upgrade (and is course subject to availability)

You can use your Velocity Points to request an upgrade from a Flexi fare seat to a Premium seat (Business and Premium Economy), subject to availability, when flying with Virgin Australia domestic and international short haul and with Virgin Samoa. Codeshare flights operated by other airlines are not eligible for upgrades.

A lot of info on their website is out of date and very slow to make changes. If you get regular emails from them all the new updates are there as they come to hand. Hopefully once they are done busy upgrading their res system then they'll fix the website!

I am quite happy now. Have enough points to try an upgrade from PE to Business when we travel next year.
Spent 180000 points this year to do the same on QF to LAX. Got upgraded both ways but disappointed with the flights.

To be specific, only Gold and Platinum members can use points to upgrade longhaul.
Upgrades to premium economy only can be done from saver level fares. Business upgrades can be obtained from flexi levels.
See section 12.3 -12.13 of the T&C's (http://www.velocityrewards.com.au/co...s/index.htm#10).
