Booking domestic NH?

Hi all,

I'm planning on transferring some points into VS to redeem on domestic NH. Has anyone tried booking these? I had a few questions:

- how is availability? To Star Alliance, there's a great deal of availability, but only <90 days out (except LM, which seems to be EOS). What's VS's access to NH inventory, route selection and timeframe?
- are stopovers/open jaws permitted intra-Japan?

Any help welcome, thanks!

Have a look at the 'sticky' thread at the top of the forum about Partner Redemptions before you transfer any points. IIRC, there is info about NH in there.

It will also give you an idea of the antiquated system VS employ for chacking availability.

Thanks. I did browse through a few pages of that thread, but it seems like a general hodgepodge of uncerrtainty vis-à-vis VS miles... I'm definitely convinced I don't want to bother with them for anything too extreme with them. But domestic NH is a great deal at 15K return - so I was hoping someone actually booked with them. Guess the best thing I can do is call and try a few random dates, see if the agent can see them or not.

I think both JAL and ANA offer 'visit Japan' type tickets, offering fixed price internal flights for non-residents. Assuming you are eligible, these may be better value. YMMV...

Aye, they do - but 10K yen per segment. I've always found 4,500 Avios or 20K Aeroplan a better value in fact - as long as you're flexible with dates and willing to work with their availability.
