VS PE LGW-LAS 16th June

Hi,
[This space is for my trip report in PE from LGW-LAS leaving on 16th June returning on 30th June]
Looking forward to 90 degrees plus and sunshine (compared to constant rain up here in Scotland)
See you in 2 weeks..

Regards
TBS

Part 1 :LGW 16th June 2002 9am

There is a large queue at economy check in but only two people in front of me at PE checkin.
No upgrade but given by assigned seat 77A.

Latest News: At passport check before check in I was asket if I would like to use the Clubhouse lounge for 20. I of course said yes and after ccheck in I went to the ticket desk paid with my miles earing c/c and got the invitation.Security took around 10 minutes max.
The lounge is excellent with good views over the runway good food (got a hot bacon baguette but as i had a breakfast buffet at the Renaissance I skipped the cereals and pastries.
Aparently this 20 offerr to use the lounge is new and only availaible to Premium Economy passengers. I do appreciate the peace and quiet compared to the main departure lounge.I'm typing this from the computers
Bye for now (PS. Thanks Nick!!)

Part 2 {typed from Scottsdale HGI AZ)
We were called for boarding at around 11:45am and took the elevator from the lounge to the tram to get to the boarding getes.
When we got there boarding had commenced for our aircraft "Pretty Woman" but we were invited to board at our leisure. I bypassed the random gate search and was soon on the upper deck in 77a.
There were about four rows of PE in front of the exits and around 4 behind. After we were given champagne I was approached by one of the Virgin ground staff(not sure but I did not see her for the flight) and asked to follow her.
I and the person in 77B (travelling with her husband and sister in 77HK) were escorted down stairs and placed in 11HK(Upper Class!!! )
I thanked the agent and settled back in the "Alitalia" seat and looked forward immensly to the 10 hour flight(life does not get much better-especially with the window seat)
My travelling companion then asked the cabin crew that she was travelling with a couple in PE and could they be moved. The cabin crew politely denied her request saying that they could not move people without autherisation (they could have done so in the past apparently)This satisfied the womaan and she popped upstairs regularly during the filght.
Row 11 is the bulkhead row behind the toilets and Door 1.
There was only 2 rows in UC in this section with two rows of economy behind the divider in front of door 2.
The aircraft was equipped with the Nova system.

A full trip report will be posted upon my return to the UK but the flight was excellent with great food and service and only took 10 minutes to clear customs and immigaration from door opening in Las Vegas ( PS breaking even on gambling so will have to return to work -maybe next week)

Regards from a hotting up PHX (115 due on Mon/Tue)

Have a great time, check out Mandalay Bay for me. Better still, when you drop the jackpot snd for some of your FT mates to help you celebrate.

On Bank expenses no doubt ! Is that why my overdraft fee has gone up ?

Interesting... probably trying to make up lost lounge revenue with the dropping of the Amex Platinum benefit.

The 20 charge is indeed an interesting developement. I have recently taken part in a long customer survey on behalf of VS by a company from Switzerland called P.Robert and Partners SA.
One of the questions posed was whether I would be prepared to pay a fee to keep my tier privileges.

VS customer service still maintain that they never charged Amex for the Plat Clubhouse perk. I find this hard to believe as they would have very little else to gain from it.

I am still in animated discussion with Amex and VS regarding this issue and will post the results when I am sure I have tried all avenues - I have to say though, that the results so far are far from encouraging ;-(

Enjoy Vegas.. it was so hot last week. Good luck with the gambling, but i was contented with scoring as many free drinks as possible, rather than trying to win my fortune !
