Any Day Passes for Lounge Available?

Being frequent flyer on many carriers, I am actually at a disadvantage in which I have been placed on a carrier with no status nor lounge access availability. As I would like to try out Virgin Atlantic possibly more in the future, are day passes available even for sale?

My flight is one way IAD-LHR in Y. I always fly IAD- BA/AF/KL or AA connecting out of DCA to Europe. Can a Platinum American Express card get me in as well to the lounge? Heard such great things that I would like to try them out.

two words: no chance

unless you are flying upper class, a gold flying club member, gold british midland member or a uk centurion card holder you cannot use the clubhouse.

sorry missed out a group who can use the clubhouse:-

richard branson
joan branson
sam branson
holly branson (though i'd happily escort her in if ever needed)

if you're feeling flush, you could pay on the day and upgrade to upper at the ticket sales desk, it was around 700 one way last time i checked. you may be able to upgrade to one of the special z class upper fares depending on when you're going, but you will need to phone virgin.

Flight entertainment system was down during the entire flight. Despite being switched seats twice, our section went without entertainment the entire flight and the other sections had to be restarted. Happened once on an AA flight in Business and was reseated and compensated $100 voucher for my troubles. Anything similar with Virgin? It was my first flight and I was really looking forward to the best transatlantic inflight entertainment system!

did you mention the issue on board? it helps if you get it put down in the flight report with your name.

usually fc miles are dished out, or if you are not a fc member a 25 duty free voucher is given.

virgin do make a point thought that the entertainment package does not form part of your flight and cannot be held responsible for any issues. from the virgin holidays website:

Please note, however, that not all aircraft operating to Florida and the Caribbean have been fitted so the Nintendo games may not be available. (In flight entertainment does not form part of your holiday. Virgin Atlantic aim to rectify any technical faults during the aircraft turnaround, however, neither Virgin Holidays, nor Virgin Atlantic will be held responsible for any lack of availability due to technical faults or difficulties or aircraft changes.)

by the way, if you look at the virgin holidays website, you will see the supplements for w and j class upgrades have fallen substantially next year (over 50%), which is even better when you remember that you can get 10% discount on top for being a fc member, just book with virgin travelstore.

thanks,
thomas
