New F/Club stuff
Just received a new Gold membership pack. As well as a new, rather tasteful matt card and luggage tags, there are details of some new FC features. In summary (and for GC holders):
- free supplementary silver account for another household member
- access to LHR Revivals (arrivals)lounge on an economy ticket (this was a temporary perk, now permanent).
- new tier points system and thersholds. i.e
>All U/C one way flights earn 5 points,
>P/E 3 points,
>Econ 2.
Threshold for Gold 40 points (30 for renewal), Silver 15 points (10 for renewal).
There may be one or two additional changes I've missed - these are the ones I picked up on first glance.

eek!!!!!
If that is the case, I will ahve to arrange an additional trip in J. I thought I could retain Gold with 1 round trip LHR-LAX plus 1 round trip LHR-JNB = 52 points (50 points required). This would only now give me 20 out of the 30 points required.
On the plus side, it'll be eaier to retain gold than it used to be if you generaly fly W or Y

Yes its all change,
As of 1st May, any Silver card members without 10 tier points in last year under new scheme will be put back down to Red
SIN-KUL route in F will now earn 5 new TP's per leg.
Apparently theres 50k Silver card members that don't fly regulary!
W check in should be a lot better then.

The new tier points for partner airlines (excluding SQ etc) will be:
under 2000 miles: 0 for Y; 1 for J and F
over 2000 miles: 1 for Y; 2 for J and F
SQ KUL-SIN still looks pretty good.
Cheers

Yes, that would be useful for those who haven't received the gospel yet.
How great that we have FlyerTalk as a resource!

Well - according to the Club line - we will all be sent letters shortly giving notice that we need to accrue renewal points in the coming year (ie period 01 May 2002 to 01 May 2003). All current memberships will therefore be extended until that time.

Hi,
Got my Silver membership pack today with one luggage tag ( will need to use my old silver tag for my other case.)and prefer the feel of the old cards!!
A new " benfit" for Silver when travelling Premium Economy (paid not reward) out of LHR T3is that you can use the Servisair Lounge ( near the virgin clubhouse- its ok but definately not the clubhouse)
In the new mini guide additional benefits for gold holders include
20kg excess baggage allowance when traveling any class with VS or SQ
Kids accounts for 2 children between 2 and 11
Access to bmi british midland businbess lounge when flying bmi british midland out of LHR in any class.
I am slightly worrried where it says " some disounted fares earn reduced tier points" and hope it does not include all discounted fares as it will severly dent earning opportunities.
It seems to me a little strange that no matter the distance flown on VS you still get the same number of tier points.
I agree with the fact that you have to fly flights to continue silver membership annually.
In the letter it said that as of 1st May points will be converted to the new regime- need to wait and see.
Regards
