VX to come to PDX

So, I was googling this subject since I have been a long time commuter from PDX to OAK. I was in San Diego last month, headed to SFO, and the VX ticket person told me that they are in the works of heading to PDX and this is SUPPOSED to happen end of Spring 2010. This is hearsay, but hey, it did come from a VX employee. Apparently, there has been a bit of a holdup with the unrelated lawsuit Alaska filed last year (and lost).

I have been flying the OAK - PDX route for a while on Horizon and/or Alaska (to get the bigger plane for the first class upgrade) and overall they are great, they're mileage plan is great, and I enjoy them. But after flying First Class on VX, or even Main Cabin Select for that matter, I will fly out of SFO instead of OAK and leave Alaska in a heartbeat. They're that much better.

My 2 cents..... ^

Welcome to FlyerTalk, ttomassini. I'm pretty confident about VX will be announced to gets more new route from SFO/LAX-PDX nonstop. It will be greatly opportunity to started service to PDX. If the gate space available will open it up to sharing these airlines gates. It will be best opportunity to begin service end of Spring 2010. You will find out soon enough from VX to be announced.

I would love to see VX enter the SFO-PDX because it really seems AS/QX and WN have raised fares (yields) the last year or so.

I will move to VX from AS in a heartbeat if indeed such rumors are true.

Same here. I'm already well on my way to earning MVP status on AS, but I would drop that immediately if VX starts PDX service. I just wish VX could come up with a mileage program that was actually worth something.

That is the key. I have some VX points expiring in March and since they don't fly everywhere I travel, I haven't been able to accrue many points. I'm thinking about going back to Southwest where at least I can accrue faster. As an AS MVPG, that's always my first priority when choosing who to fly...
