variable standby upgrade fees?

I'm attempting to check in for tomorrow's flight SFO -> LAX and moving my mouse over MCS shows a fee of $50 while the open first class seats say $100.

Compared to what's listed in the F.A.Q. ($50 for first class upgrade on flights under 900 miles, $25 to main cabin select), it's double the fee.

Which might make sense, since this is July 4th weekend I'm doing my flying.

Or has V.A. increased fees for these upgrades permanently?

okay... I figured it out by looking at the "upgrade SFO-IAD = $750 per seat" thread, where it looks like the o.p. suffered the same confusion that I did.

The amount the seat map quotes is for as many seats as are on the reservation. It's me + companion, so that's why it was quoting me double.
