VX "Plans Change pass" option

Hi all

I purchased a ticket for a friend to visit us, and opted to add the "plans change pass" (PCP) feature, which allows change of dates/times (subject to possible fare change). Now she is facing surgery and is not likely to come anytime soon.

Questions:
(1) Does the PCP allow cancellation for no fee?

(2) In any case, if I cancel and have to pay the $150 fee, do I actually get the money I paid back, or is it saved as a credit?

Thanks!

1) According to the VX website, the PCP "cannot be applied when canceling a reservation."

2) I've never gotten the PCP but every refund I've received went to my travel bank. Those funds expire after 1 year. If VX won't refund the cc, changing to a similar price later date might work to avoid the cancellation fee and retain the value assuming your friend will visit eventually. You'd just have to remember to keep changing the flight. No idea what AS is going to do with travel bank credit.

Yes, thanks, I see that now in the (very) fine print of the "Fees" page.

That's good advice (keep changing date, and avoiding more expensive fares), as one can change the PCP'ed ticket over and over, it seems.
