Ideal MC>F Upgrade Process?
Hi Everyone,
I'm VX Gold and traveling later this week. What's the ideal process to get the cheapest upgrade to F from MC?
Is my understanding correct it's better to process the comp MCS upgrade first @ T-24 and then immediately process a second paid upgrade from MCS>F versus going straight from MC>F?
Ideally I'd perform everything at T-24. Thanks!

The ideal process, which works for me every time (but maybe only 75% of the time if I'm flying SFO-DCA) is to buy MC, checking the box at the time for a comp upgrade to MCS; check in at T-24, at which time the comp to MCS should have gone through (automatically); and then you will see the option to upgrade to first, which should reflect the price of an upgrade from MCS to F (not the higher price of MC-->F).
If you're seeing the higher upgrade price, and/or the option to pay for an upgrade from MC-->MCS, then call the Gold line and ask them to process your comp upgrade to MCS and then charge you for MCS-->F.

To add on to what shza said...From my experience if there are 3+ F seats you'll likely have no trouble upgrading from M -> MCS -> F at T-24. If there are only 1 or 2, you have to weigh the options...which if you have the VX credit card one option is to cancel your M ticket, buy and MCS and be ready to upgrade to F at the stroke of T-24.
