Fare class availability?
I'm Elevate Silver and trying to book three first-class SFO to DAL (also have the Virgin Visa Platinum but I don't think that matters here).
ExpertFlyer shows all 8 seats available for all three flights on my chosen days. However they only have one seat released to the more reasonable D fare so I can't book the tickets (of course plenty of $3000 J seats are available). Dates are mid-June to early July so it should be far enough out but not too far.
I tried calling the Elevate Silver line but got someone who was unhelpful and borderline rude. She claimed the fare class had nothing to do with it and told me she can only offer the same as the website.
In the past when I've used American, I could call and if you had at least some status with them they would release some seats from the refundable fare bucket (assuming they had plenty of seats open at the time). Does VX just not do that ever, do you have to have Gold, or do I just need to call back and ask for a manager?
I'm almost certain that I could book the tickets individually and get the lower D fare but one of them is for my son who is too young to travel alone so I have no clue how I'd handle that without going through the unaccompanied minor business for his ticket.
