Using VX Points on Virgin Australia

Anyone had any luck using Virgin America points to book a business class on Virgin Australia? I know it's an option but wondering how much availability they actually have for that.

It's just one data point, but I did ~2 years ago and there was plenty of availability. Definitely unlike trying to snag a UC seat on Virgin Atlantic.

I didn't do this directly, but earlier this year I attempted to book two flights (Sydney to Melbourne and Melbourne to Perth) in economy. For the Melbourne to Perth leg, they was no availability in economy, but there was in business. I had schedule flexibility, so just flew the next day, but it's definitely possible!

Good to know, I think Fall 2016 I may try to get to Australia for a couple weeks. Dying to see Kangaroo Island.

Certainly makes the redemption a much better value now.

That's sweeeet!

If only they'd do that for Virgin Atlantic, too. Of course, that's won't happen before pigs learn to fly. (I guess that's a stupid saying here, because pigs DO fly -- as "emotional support" animals.)
