Question on Upgrading before 24 hour window on Virgin

Hi,

My fiance and I are going to Vegas for our honeymoon and I wanted to make it special and try to get a first class ticket. I've tried to speak to Virgin about this but they keep telling me I can try to upgrade 24 hours before for an extra room ticket, then 6 hours before for a first class ticket.

Is there any way around this to secure some premium seats !? I'm trying to impress my woman here !

Any tips?

Thanks

Congratulations !

My advice is to pay up for main cabin select or First class and plan on losing less (or wining more) at the tables.

You can simply rebook your ticket online into whatever class you want to travel. It's not an upgrade, it's whatever the full price is for the seat you want (minus what you've already paid).

Exactly. You'll get more points for the higher fare also, whereas you wouldn't for a 24 hour upgrade.

If you attempt to rebook upwards online and it tries to charge a change fee, i'd suggest you call the call center and ask the agent to see if an exception can be made because you're upgrading the fare class.
