A Better-Than-Expected Ending
I posted ten days ago about my brother-in-law's experience leaving his wallet in a back seat pocket during a FLL-LAX flight. He wasn't allowed back on the plane in Los Angeles to get it when he realized it was missing, and the gate agent/crew couldn't locate it. Since he was virtually the last one off the plane, it seemed unlikely that another passenger had taken it.
I assumed we'd heard the last of the wallet. But lo and behold, late last week an email arrived from VX Operations back in Fort Lauderdale. The wallet had been found by a cleaning crew! I paid to have it Fedexed here. It was missing $500 in Australian currency in the main compartment, but all credit cards, his DL, health care and other cards were still there....along with $300 U.S. that was tucked away in a hidden, zippered compartment. Somebody had obviously grabbed it briefly and discarded it, likely in a different part of the plane, but we'll never know exactly who did so.
Many thanks to the honest, helpful people at VX Operations in FLL for this recovery. It was the best possible outcome from an admittedly-dumb move on the part of my brother-in-law (an inexperienced traveler). And thanks also to fellow FTers for their advice and counsel, particularly the assurance that no airline would have allowed reboarding. I'm happy to admit that I was hasty in my criticism of Virgin America. Especially after reading other complimentary posts from VX flyers, I hope to have the opportunity to give the airline another try.

I for one commented on your original post and I dont recall ever seeing a poster return with an update like yours ^ and I think it shows you have integrity.
Glad too see your update and return of the wallet.
