Virgin America has announced the opening of "The Red Store".

I couldn't find anyplace where it says you can use your existing points to purchase anything.

They should now extend point expiration from the date of last activity.
18 months from when each point is earned makes them pretty much useless to leisure travelers and most ppl who would travel enough to earn points are attracted by FF programs.
Hopefully Elevate will continue to 'improve' as time goes on.
