cancelled flight?!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but i'm so frustrated right now i can't really think straight. please move if necessary.

I was supposed to be on flight 358 from sfo to bos leaving 02/10. apparently all vx flights going to boston on that date are cancelled, which left me high and dry. i was able to catch the cancellation quickly and managed to snag a seat on a flight leaving friday at the same time. but i need to be in boston on friday at the latest. i have a few questions i wanted to ask:

1) right now a flight leaving on 02/11 at the same time is showing 2 open first class seats. ive been told that i can upgrade to those seats for $250 24 hours before departure/get seats opened up in the main cabin, but i realize that will be unlikely.

2) lots of flights are marked "sold out" but still show open seats. what gives?

i'd rather not book on another airline because it's either too expensive, or they are all connecting flights and id rather be stuck at home than in the middle of no where.

what should i do???

Having just gone thru this twice trying to get out of LAS into JFK/EWR the issue with the seat map vs seats available is the seats are likely sold or "taken" just not assigned yet. Due to all the canceled flights they have probably been trying to re-accommodate people on these flights and that's probably why they arent available for sale. You might have better luck calling them directly. I feel your pain, our flight yesterday was the very last flight allowed out of LAS to JFK yesterday and it feels good to be home.

Good Luck

Because of the winter storms on the East Coast, they may not be letting people buy tickets right now, because VX might have to cancel the flights and re-accommodate people. Less tickets sold = less people to have to re-accommodate.
